Wix Blog installed
The Wix Blog application must be added and published on your site. Works with all Wix plans, including the free one.
Admin access
You need Owner or Admin access to your Wix account to generate API keys.
Active Wix plan
Any Wix plan works, including free — as long as your site is published.
Step 1 — Find Your Account ID
Open the Wix API Keys Manager
Log in to your Wix account and go to manage.wix.com/account/api-keys
Copy your Account ID
Your Account ID is displayed on the API Keys page — copy it and keep it ready. You will need it when connecting in Step 4.
Step 2 — Generate Your Wix API Key
Click Generate API Key
You're already on the API Keys Manager page. Click Generate API Key.
Name your key
Give your key a clear name — for example, "VellumUp Integration".
Set the required permissions
Enable "Wix Blog" (required to create and publish posts) and "Manage Site Media" (required for cover images and inline images). Give the key a name.
Click Generate Key
Copy the key immediately — Wix will not show it again after you close the window.
Save the key somewhere safe
You will paste this key into VellumUp in Step 4 below.
Step 3 — Find Your Site ID
Go to your Wix Dashboard
Log in to your Wix account and open manage.wix.com/dashboard
Look at the URL in your browser
The URL will look like this — the long string after /dashboard/ is your Site ID:https://manage.wix.com/dashboard/xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx/home
Copy the Site ID
Copy the UUID (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx) and keep it ready for Step 4.
Step 4 — Connect to VellumUp
Open Integrations → Wix
In your VellumUp dashboard, navigate to Integrations → Wix and click Connect Wix.
Fill in your details
Enter your Author Name (how you want to appear on published posts), paste your Account ID from Step 1, your Site ID from Step 3, and your API Key from Step 2.
Click Connect
VellumUp will verify your credentials and activate the integration.
VellumUp handles multilingual publishing for you automatically:
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| "Invalid API Key" (401) | Make sure you copied the full key with no extra spaces, and that the Manage Blog permission is checked. |
| "Site Not Found" (404) | Double-check the Site ID. It must be the UUID from your Wix Dashboard URL, not your Account ID. |
| Article not appearing | Make sure the Wix Blog app is installed and your site is published. The Blog API is unavailable on unpublished sites. |
When an article is published, VellumUp converts it from HTML to Wix Rich Content format and creates a new blog post via the Wix REST API. The featured image is set as the cover, SEO title and meta description are synced to the post's SEO fields, and hreflang tags are injected for multilingual sites. Posts go live immediately on their scheduled date.
